For day events and overnight retreats, travel to and from the event is your responsibility and at your cost, unless I’ve clearly said otherwise.
You’re responsible for your own travel insurance, your health and your belongings. Please tell me about any relevant medical, access or dietary needs in good time so I can do my best to accommodate them or pass them on to the venue or caterers.
Sometimes things outside our control happen – illness, venue issues, travel disruption and so on. I may need to change the venue, schedule or speakers. If I have to cancel an event entirely and not offer an alternative, I’ll refund the event fee you paid me. I’m not responsible for any separate travel or accommodation you’ve booked yourself unless the law says otherwise.
Overseas retreatsWhen I run an overseas retreat, what you are buying from me is the retreat experience itself: the coaching, workshops, facilitation, programme content and the activities I run during the retreat. You are not buying flights, airport transfers, travel or accommodation from me and the price you pay me does not include any of those things.
Your travel and your accommodation are entirely your responsibility. You book and pay for these separately and directly, either yourself or through an independent travel professional. If I introduce or recommend a travel professional or a particular airline, hotel or venue, I do that only as a convenience for you. They act independently of me, your contract for those services is with them and not with me and I don’t earn anything from, control or take responsibility for that arrangement.
Because I’m providing only the retreat experience, and not selling it together with, or as a combined or inclusive price for, your travel or accommodation, our arrangement isn’t intended to be a “package” or a “linked travel arrangement” under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, and I’m not acting as a package organiser, tour operator or travel agent. I’m not responsible for the travel services you book, including any change, delay, cancellation, overbooking, insolvency or failure on the part of any airline, hotel, transfer provider, travel agent or other supplier.
You’re responsible for making sure you have a valid passport, any visas, and any vaccinations or health requirements for your destination, and for meeting all entry and travel rules. Please take out comprehensive travel insurance as soon as you book, ideally cover that includes cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses and repatriation.
If you’re unable to travel to or attend an overseas retreat for any reason, including illness, travel disruption, visa or passport problems, or a change in your circumstances, the fee you’ve paid me for the retreat experience is dealt with under the cancellation and refund terms in this agreement. That is completely separate from anything you may be able to recover for your travel or accommodation, which is a matter between you, your travel provider and your insurer.
Paying for events and retreats, and my no-refund policy For events and retreats, you can either pay in full when you book or, where I offer it, pay by an agreed staged payment plan. If you choose a staged plan, you’re committing to the full fee from the moment you make your first payment: the instalments simply spread the total you already owe, as set out in section 6, and if you stop part-way the remaining instalments still fall due. Any plan I offer will be interest-free with no extra charges, in 12 or fewer payments, and must be completed in full before the retreat or event takes place.
Other than the statutory cooling-off rights in section 7, which apply only to certain consumer bookings and which I can’t and don’t remove, event and retreat fees are non-refundable. Once you’ve booked and any cooling-off period has passed, the full fee is due and stays due whether or not you attend, whether you cancel, and whether or not you’re able to travel. Please make sure an event or retreat is right for you before you book.
Your travel and accommodation are a completely separate contract between you and whoever you book them with (for example a Travel Counsellor). They have nothing to do with me, your retreat fee doesn’t include them, and my no-refund policy is separate from whatever cancellation or refund terms your travel provider applies. Please make sure you’re properly insured.
